The exec is calling it quits after nearly two decades with the company.
Sony Computer Entertainment UK has confirmed that managing director Ray Maguire has left after seventeen years of service with the company. Maguire helped Sony with the launch of the original PlayStation and believes that the brand will continue to thrive in his absence.
“Having been here right from the start and after a lot of soul searching, I feel that now is the right time for me to move on,” said Maguire. “I am confident that I can leave the business in the hands of the brilliant teams here in the UK and across Europe that I’ve had the honour of working with. I’ve made so many great friends during my time here and although the thought of leaving was quite tough, it is essential for me to continue to grow.”
Maguire is leaving on his own terms, so there’s otherwise not too much to say about the announcement. Seventeen years is a long time to be anywhere, and Maguire has earned the right to move on to something else.
