A guy with an eye-patch walks into a bar…

Deep Silver has released the first cinematic trailer for Risen 2: Dark Waters, and while it’s still early, the game seems to have the makings of a halfway decent pirate conspiracy. The visuals are solid and there are sea monsters, and the plot thankfully appears to be about traditional pirates instead of hackers.

The only real problem is the protagonist (or at least, what I assume is the protagonist.) He comes across as more of a thug than a hero, and I’d say that he deserves his beating after picking a fight with some random guy in a bar.

The new trailer is below. In Risen 2, the world has descended into chaos and players will have to infiltrate the ranks of the pirates on the Southern Islands in order to stop a looming sea monster invasion. As seen in the trailer, the sequel will add several new gameplay elements like firearms and conditional voodoo magic.

Risen 2: Dark Waters will be available for the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC.
