The planned update won’t be ready before the end of May.
The 3DS eShop was supposed to launch in May, but you’ll have to wait a little longer to download games directly to the handheld. Nintendo has pushed back the debut of the eShop until June 6
in North America and Japan and June 7
in Europe, at which point the service will go live with a free system update. In addition to the online store, the planned update will add a 3DS Internet browser and “a number of new features and enhancements.”
The eShop will be a hub for a classic Game Boy, Game Gear, and other titles, as well as for new games like Capcom’s Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype version (pictured). Nintendo is giving away a free version of Excitebike to help publicize the store at launch.
