An EA Sports representative has confirmed with Nintendo World Report yesterday that Madden NFL 25 won’t be coming to Wii U this year.
In a statement given to Nintendo World Report, the EA Sports representative acknowledges EA not “releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013”, but wants to continue to “evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future”.
A version of Madden NFL 13 was released for both the Wii and Wii U; other Nintendo platforms had Madden installments. This would be the first time since 1991 the Madden series has skipped Nintendo platforms.
As far as the Wii U is concerned, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata explained its underperformance, due to poor marketing efforts and unimpressive sales. Also, Iwata revealed today in a post-earnings presentation he seeks for his company to do away with the ideas the Wii U is not powerful enough.
