Need for Speed Rivals —the next installment in EA’s action and racing franchise—will be making its debut on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It will also be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

EA says in a press release Need for Speed Rivals will be developed at EA’s newest studio, Ghost Games. They are regarded by EA as bringing “new thinking and innovation to the Need for Speed franchise in partnership with the expert racing team at Criterion Games”. Need for Speed Rivals will use the Frostbite 3 engine.

Ghost Games added the Ferrari is making its long-awaited return to the Need for Speed franchise, and for the first time in seven years, players can bask in the glory of experiencing the most luxurious vehicles Ferrari has to offer.

“We are back in the Need for Speed franchise, starting with Need for Speed Rivals, as we want the fans of this world famous and award-winning racing game saga to be able again feel the excitement of the Ferrari brand and cars,” adds Steffano Saporetti, spokesperson and Head of Brand Operations at Ferarri.

A new online feature called AllDrive, according to EA, is the nexus of Need for Speed Rivals, as it hopes to bridge the gap between multiplayer and single-player. Ghost Games’ Executive Producer Marcus Nilsson says this introduction of AllDrive endows players the “freedom to seamlessly go from single-player to co-op to multiplayer”.

“In Need for Speed Rivals we are creating one game experience with one progression, where the freedom to play with friends is more fluid and accessible than ever before,” Nilsson says.
