ROM Hosts Game Jam in August

Aspiring Canadian videogame developers wishing to show off their skills can participate in the Royal Ontario Museum’s (ROM) Game Jam, happening from Aug. 9-11.

This three-day event is partnered with Toronto’s gaming event Gamercamp and the University of Toronto. As the theme for this year’s Game Jam is “Foretelling the Past”, participants can draw inspiration for their games by visiting the ROM’s exhibits and engage in deep conversation with the ROM’s experts on a variety of subjects.

The fun doesn’t stop after the Game Jam—completed games would get a play-test session at the ROM in mid-October. Also, completed games would premiere at Gamercamp in November. Participants keep the intellectual properties of their works, and are at liberty to distribute and sell their games.

Space is very limited, so assembled teams are allowed one to four individuals.

Visit the ROM’s Game Jam website for more information. Also visit Gamercamp’s website for speakers, events and schedules.
