PS4 hit with bug, corrupting save files 1

A 36-page PlayStation forum thread is painting an unfortunate picture involving several PlayStation 4 owners losing saved data, and preventing them from opening apps due to a pesky bug which has burrowed its way into the system.

This bug goes by the name Error CE-34878-0, and reportedly corrupts save files for several games including FIFA 14, Assassin’s Creed IV:Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, NBA 2K14, and Battlefield 4. One of the incidents were outlined on Joystiq, and involved a user losing 30 hours of progress. Reports within the forum say you can fix the issue by applying the latest patch for the system, so far however it hasn’t resolved all the problems the error is creating.

In an interview with Eurogamer, a Sony representative said they’re on the case.

“We are aware of the cases and we appreciate your patience while we investigate.”

The PlayStation 4 has sold more than 4.2 million consoles worldwide since its launch in November.
