With The LEGO Movie only a few days away, Warner Bros. is already working on a sequel.
The decision itself comes from market predictions. According to IGN, Warner Bros. expects to make at least $40 million dollars in the film’s first weekend.
Though the first movie is penned by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (21 Jump Street), the sequel will be done by Jared Stern (The Internship). Warner Bros has not commented yet on the reason for this change.
The LEGO Movie stars Chris Pratt as your every-day, ordinary construction worker who gets sucked into a journey that will threaten the LEGO world’s existence. On his quest he encounters many familiar characters, including Wonder Woman and Batman.
Alongside Pratt are a host of Hollywood bigshots: Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Charlie Day to name a few. Unsurprisingly, Morgan Freeman plays a wise, old wizard (it was either that or narrator).
You can check out The LEGO Movie at your local theater when it comes out this Friday.
