Can The Star Wars Battlefront Reveal Break The Internet?

If you haven’t heard by now, because you’ve been isolated from civilization somewhere damp with no access to the Internet, the gameplay reveal for Star Wars Battlefront will drop at the annual Star Wars celebration convention on April 17

Star Wars fans will be graced with not only the reveal of a franchise that they have been hankering for since the cancellation of Battlefront 3, they also witness what’s up J.J Abrams’ sleeve for the anticipated release of Star Wars: A Force Awakens later this year.  But this article isn’t about the movie, it’s about the promise from the developers at DICE stating that their debut trailer spliced with in-game footage and CGI will break the Internet.

Responsible mainly for their work on the Battlefield franchise, DICE has been tasked with reimagining the critically acclaimed franchise. The developers have kept tight-lipped on the game ever since the concept reveal at the Electronic Expo last year;  filled with promises that this opportunity for them was a “match made in heaven.” Now everyone will see if those promises will come to fruition or bring about Armageddon to DICE’s doorstep.

Global Community Manager Vincent V. Vukovic and Gameplay Analyst Christian Johannesen have tweeted their agenda for the next annual Star Wars Event.

“On the agenda next week: Break the Internet,” said Vukovic.  And Johannesen said, “The destruction of the Internet: It will be as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in excitement.”
Dennis Brannvall however to make sure no skepticism shrouds this title after the reveal, confirmed that the in-game visuals are indeed what you can expect when the game launches later this fall.

“I’m going to answer a question in advance: Yes, that is actually what the game looks like,” he said.

Another promise made by DICE. Will this be the game that fans have been clamoring for? Maybe. Will the in-game graphics awaken all hope for the return of this franchise? Maybe. Most importantly, will the reveal break the Internet? I’m here to tell you no matter how fantastic this trailer is, no matter how much hype for its inevitable release, it will not break the Internet. No game reveal has ever caused that much damage; even games with heavy sexual themes couldn’t even achieve this goal.

What this trailer will do however, is wept the appetite of gamers and alert those that the Star Wars Battlefront franchise is in good hands, but that’s about all this trailer will do because it will not showcase enough to do anything more.

DICE will unveil Star Wars Battlefront when they host the panel at the convention just three days away at 10:30 a.m.  And who knows, maybe we’ll get a tease with what Visceral Games has in store for Star Wars in the future.
