TotalBiscuit Diagnosed With Inoperable Cancer - 2015-10-15 13:53:00

In a recent tweet by the Youtube game critic, Totalbiscuit has announced he has been diagnosed with liver cancer.

John Bain, otherwise known as Totalbiscuit on YouTube and Twitter, posted on Twitter using the Twitter add-on “TwitLonger” to let his fans and followers know saying “Well, I don’t know if there is really a right way to tell people this, so I guess here goes. The CT did not come back negative. The cancer in the bowel is gone, but spots have appeared in my liver. They’re not operable and there’s no cure. Average life expectancy is 2-3 years, though there are outliers that live much longer.”

Bain released a vlog in April last year announcing to his fans that he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer. A month later he tweeted that it was “full blown cancer” and began receiving chemo therapy, radiation treatments. That October he underwent an operation to remove the growth, which his wife reported the doctor’s assessment of it a success.

Totalbiscuit is best known for his “WTF is” series on Youtube in which he does “first look” style videos reviewing both indie and AAA games. He is also one of the first Youtubers, along with Jim Sterling, to begin exposing shady indie developers after a copyright claim was issued against him by Wild Game Studios for his review of “Day One: Gary’s Incident”

There’s no easy way to ever report something like this. Totalbiscuit helped start and refine the genre of Youtube game reviews. We here at CGmagazine send our condolences to him and his family and hope for his recovery, or at the very least, the closest he can get to beating this as possible.

shall god bless him, i am super sad with this news

    • Potato

"god" if that exist why he have cancer.

      • No god here boss

        Good point.

      • Brad

Actually cancer is man-made. It didn't exist a couple of hundred years ago:

        • Alexander Riley

That's a load of crap, in the article it says there are no natural causes of cancer which is bull, uv radiation causes cancer and there are viruses that can cause cancer

          • Vol

Plus, animals develop cancer too. ie: Tasmanian Devil's are endangered because of a virus that causes cancer.

        • Alex Agius

Yes it did. It isn't man made. Only someone who is completely ignorant of what cancer is would make such bullshit claims. People hundreds of years ago didn't know what it was, people just died of it and it was assumed to be age/nature.

The elements, viral particles, lifestyle (btw tobacco was in use for over 400 years), genetic predisposition and the random mutations we all accumulate as we age cause cancer.

  • WoepWoep

You don't give condolences when he's fucking alive… Come on, don't you have any common sense?

  • L@NCE

An expression of sympathy, especially on the occasion of the death of a person's relative or close friend.

The guy isn't dead yet! How dumb are people that write online articles…

  • ChatWraithShichi

If it's on his liver, couldn't he get a liver transplant? Pulling at straws, I know, but that's terrible.

    • yup

you'd have to deal with a very weak body going through traumatic surgery. he's already going thru chemo and radiation, so there's a a relatively high chance he may die if he undergoes this. Also, transplants will most likely cause rejection within the body as the liver markers will not match with his body's. He'd have to take drugs to suppress the immune system from attacking the foreign liver, which itself has severe side effects too.

Now for my IMHO: stop the gaming, spend your time with your family and wife.

      • RazeAdroitUK

Chemo leaves you immunocompromised, this is actually a beneficial side effect for transplant success rates since it acts like an immunosuppression. Transplant is actually a treatment for liver cancer, unfortunately livers are hard to come by.

I'll also mention that liver cancer is near impossible to combat in advanced stages but also very hard to detect in its early stages, which if it were in its early stages there would be a few treatments available including already what I stated above.

There's really no grey area with liver cancer, it's either caught early with very good probability of survival or caught late (most cases) and there is little to no chance of survival.

It becomes a very aggressive cancer once it reaches the liver.

  • Damn my heart goes out to you buddy. Stay strong man. You will be one of those outliers.

    • prick

And you are a massive prick.
      Sympathy troll cunt.

  • Eric Butler

Thoughts and prayers are with TotalBiscuit and his family

  • nigger and cop killer

So what. He had cancer. He's not the only one but he has to tweet it and put it on social media for the sympathy trolls to tweet back.
Go fuck yourself and get a fucking life you sad cunts.
I hope the prick dies a painful shitty death.

    • greg

      fuckin chill out man

    • Dantes

hey smart one, ever consider the reality he is informing his fans who want to know becuase with this news he is probably going to retire away from the youtube biz?

that being said, the fact you feel the need to say something so hateful about someone like this shows a lot about the kind of person you are, weak, insecure, and a coward, a true champion among keyboard warriors. I'm sure you are very proud of your internet moment, as it's all your gonna get in life.
