Yesterday, the Nikkei, a reputable financial paper in Japan, reported that Nintendo would be ceasing the production of the current Nintendo home console by the end of the year. Nintendo has since denied this claim.
According to Kotaku, a Nintendo spokesperson told IT Media that the Nikkei’s report was not an announcement from Nintendo and they do not plan to stop producing the Wii U.
It sounds like Nintendo is going ahead and continuing to support the Wii U. Kotaku mentions at the end of their article that the Nikkei has a good past record of reporting strong rumours from the big N.
