Overwatch Competitive Play Set For Possible June, not July, Release

If you’re tired of supercharged turrets, cowboys constantly telling you the time, and weather reports of justice being spammed aimlessly in your matches, then you’ll be glad to know more strategic gameplay is coming back very soon to Overwatch.

Introduced in the closed beta, Competitive Play was originally reported to coming back to Overwatch by July, according to this tweet from the official Overwatch twitter:

However, Overwatch’s twitter quickly updated with a correction that Competitive Play would be coming out in June, rather than July.

The long anticipated Competitive Play will be Overwatch’s first major content update. At this time of writing, no further details about the release, such as possible new characters or maps, have been announced for the competitive mode update. Competitive play will be broken up into “seasons”, with small breaks in-between them.

Overwatch, released on May 24th, is played and beloved by millions of Battle.net users and fans worldwide. Check out our review of Overwatch, and let us know if you’ll be playing competitively when the mode drops in July.
