Buzz around the Internet today seems to confirm that CD Projekt Red will soon be releasing The Witcher 3: Game of the Year edition.
Eurogamer confirmed this on their website, and has posted a statement from CD Projekt Red’s game director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.
“With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game’s interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we’re working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition. I’m happy to confirm – yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We’ll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I’d like to thank every fan of the game for their support – you’re really amazing!”
According to the original leak, The Witcher 3: Game Of The Year Edition is set for release on August 26. While we can only speculate on the content, one can safely assume the package will include the full Witcher 3 experience, with the original game, the free DLC content and the two expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
This is good news for fans of The Witcher 3 looking to return to Geralt’s world and re-live the adventure, and for anybody who missed it the first time around, this will be a perfect opportunity to dive in.
What hasn’t been confirmed is whether or not CD Projekt Red is preparing a 4k version of The Witcher 3 for the upcoming Scorpio and Neo consoles, potentially releasing this fall. The company hasn’t actually mentioned this but it does seem likely given the timing of this edition.
