Nintendo Announces Mini-NES Console

NES Classic Edition Trailer Reveals 60 Hz Gameplay, CRT Mode

Nintendo is bringing back the ultimate blast from the past by announcing a new edition of their first console. The NES: Classic Edition is a miniaturized edition of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, and comes pre-packaged with 30 classic NES titles. The console connects directly to your TV via HDMI cable, and the bundled controller can be plugged in to your Wii Remote to play Virtual Console games on the Wii or Wii U.

The 30 games are as follows:

  • Balloon Fight
  • Bubble Bobble
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Double Dragon II
  • Dr. Mario
  • Excitebike
  • Final Fantasy
  • Galaga
  • Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins
  • Gradius
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • Mega Man 2
  • Metroid
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Pac-man
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • SUPER C
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Each game will feature in-game saving, replacing the old, extremely frustrating password system. The NES: Classic Edition releases on November 11th and retails for $60 USD. Additional controllers will cost an extra $10. If that does not suit your fancy, players who own the Wii Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro can use those instead. The original NES, released in 1985, is one of the best selling consoles of all time, selling over 60 million copies worldwide. It is also credited with saving the gaming industry following the massive videogame crash of 1983.
