Nintendo’s NX To Be Unveiled Tomorrow

Nintendo's NX To Be Unveiled Tomorrow

What is the NX? Is it a handheld? A home console? Some homunculus of the two? No one quite knows yet, and months of fake “leaks” have only warmed up hyped to a fever pitch.

It might reach a boiling point tomorrow, though, when Nintendo of America official unveils whatever its next step is. According to the company’s Twitter, a “Preview Trailer” for the NX is set to debut at 10 AM ET/7 AM PT tomorrow morning. The enigmatic tweet simply tells us to “be among the first to discover NX.”

The interesting thing about this news is that Nintendo isn’t actually rolling out a Nintendo Direct for this news, or at least, it doesn’t look like it. This nebulous preview trailer could very well be one of those, but one would think they’d try to stay on-brand about those sorts of things.

Or perhaps this preview trailer could be a teaser for a soon-to-come Direct, similar to how trailers for movies have their own, standalone trailers these days. That’s just speculation, of course, but something worth keeping in mind.

Regardless of the format, the big takeaway is that tomorrow morning, we’ll finally (allegedly) have a clear idea of what the NX is. It’s a pretty bold move on Nintendo’s part to unveil their new platform during PlayStation VR’s launch week, but then, I would imagine that’s entirely intentional. No doubt that after this sneak peek, the NX (or whatever it ends up being called) will be the hottest talk of the gaming world. It’s kind of a relief, too, because the fake leaks were starting to get a bit out of hand.

It’s been a long wait, but the end is finally in sight. As always, be sure to check CGM tomorrow for news on whatever Nintendo’s been cooking up.
