Glu Launches Nicki Minaj: The Empire

The undisputed queen of hip-hop offers aspiring artists the keys to success

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: GLUU), a leading global developer and publisher of free-to-play games for smartphone and tablet devices, today announced the availability of Nicki Minaj: The Empire on the App Store and Google Play. Featuring exclusive voiceovers and video messages from Nicki Minaj herself, the app offers users a multi-faceted digital experience including engaging story mode, robust chat rooms, and the innovative ability to write and record original music.

The app’s Raps feature allows users to write and record their own lyrics over original tracks and Nicki Minaj songs, including ‘Ain’t Gone Do It,’ a song originally intended for The Pinkprint that Nicki has decided to share with her fans. Users then submit those tracks to the game’s community, earn likes, gain followers, and get discovered. Nicki might be listening!

“I am delighted to welcome Nicki Minaj: The Empire into Glu’s robust portfolio of products,” said Nick Earl, Glu’s President and CEO. “Featuring multiple ways to engage with Nicki’s world apart from traditional narrative gameplay, this product illustrates the evolution of Glu’s celebrity gaming platform.”

“Raps is a feature derived entirely from Nicki’s creativity and commitment to the success and authenticity of Nicki Minaj: The Empire,” continued Earl. “I look forward to the creativity submitted by the app’s community of users.”

“When I was coming up as an artist, I didn’t have my own beats to work off of so I had to use existing tracks. In Nicki Minaj: The Empire, I’m providing up-and-coming artists with original tracks to put their lyrics on and the chance to rap with me on ‘Ain’t Gone Do It,’ a
song originally intended for The Pinkprint that I’ve decided to share with my fans,” said Nicki Minaj. “I’m so excited to listen to the songs that my fans submit in the app.”
