Fans of Destiny always knew that a sequel would be made. Now, the teasing is officially over and Destiny 2 is on its way. So far a teaser trailer has been released, Bungie has described a little about what the game will entail and an official reveal trailer has been unveiled.
Destiny 2 launches on September 8, 2017. For fans who were disappointed that the original did not launch on PC, that worry is nonexistent with the sequel. Simultaneously, this entry will launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Bungie ended up releasing the first trailer for the game, dubbed “Last Call,” but it was more of a teaser than anything else. It shows Nathan Fillion’s Cayde-6 chilling out at a bar enjoying a cold beverage. All in the meanwhile, the building is crashing down around him as he talks about his experiences.
However, now the official reveal has been released titled “Rally the Troops”. Not only did this confirm the Sept. 8, 2017 release date and release on the PC, it also informed that pre-ordering for the beta early access was available. As with the original, an Expansion Pass is expected that will run two add-ons for around $35.
“Destiny was the biggest launch of a new console video game franchise ever. Along with our incredibly talented partners at Bungie, we are focusing on making Destiny 2 even better, with state of the art first-person action, an awesome new story, great characters, and thoughtful innovations that make the game more accessible to all different kinds of players,” said Activision CEO, Eric Hirshberg in a press release. “We’re also bringing Destiny 2 to the PC platform for the first time. Destiny 2 will make an already great game franchise better than ever.”
Bungie has, in a nutshell, described what Destiny 2 will entail. In their own words, they mention humanity has fallen to the commander of the Red Legion (Ghaul). Not only has Ghaul forced all the citizens to flee in fear of their lives, he has also stripped the city’s Guardians of all their power. As the main protagonist, the goal is to traverse through several mysterious worlds to discover new weapons and combat abilities. To eventually defeat the villainous mastermind, all of humanity’s scattered heroes must reunite to take their home back. In the reveal trailer, it showed off two of leaders of the Guardians inspiring the citizens of the city.
