SEGA brings Bayonetta to PC via Steam 6

PlatinumGames has been riding quite the wave with critics raving about NeiR: Automata and Sega is looking to capitalize on this streak by bringing a beloved property to PC.

Sega announced today that they are bringing PlatinumGames’s acclaimed character action game Bayonetta to PC via Steam.

Now players can experience the game in a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) and the resolution has been unlocked to accommodate 4K. Cut scenes will be locked at 30 fps but that’s a small price to pay to see this already slick title.

“We are dedicated to bringing high-quality, best practice PC conversions of our back catalogue games to our fans, and Bayonetta was a great fit.” Said John Clark, Senior Vice President of Commercial Publishing for Sega Europe. “Bayonetta is one of the most often requested PC conversions of our games, so finally being able to launch it on Steam is fantastic. There’s more to come!”

On top of the resolution increase comes the ability to play with a mouse and keyboard. Probably not the most effective way to play a game where combos and rankings are king but it adds a potentially interesting facet to this game.

This won’t be the last PC port from Sega as the company stated they’re planning to bring more titles to the platform.

First released back in 2009, Bayonetta was originally released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to near-universal acclaim. We here at CGMagazine gave it a 9/10 along with many other reviewers. It’s crisp controls and character designs being a focal point for the original. In 2014 it was released on Wii U alongside Bayonetta 2 which garnered further acclaim.

Bayonetta is available on Steam exclusively right now for those who want to dive back into a classic action game with over the top characters and a witch in a hair suit.
