The Paladins Console Open Beta Officially Kicks Off

Hi-Rez Studio brings Paladins Champions of the Realm to the Nintendo Switch

Hi-Rez Studios has finally unveiled the announcement that so many Paladins fans have been craving. It is now official; this PC shooter can now be played for free on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Being dubbed the Paladins Console Open Beta, this gives console owners a chance to experience one of the most successful Steam titles of 2016. For those who are strictly console players and do not bother with PC titles, check out the newly released cinematic trailer to get a glimpse of the game’s greatness.

The Executive Producer of Paladins, Todd Harris, was delighted to bring this experience into the console world. “After welcoming more than 8.5 million PC players to Paladins, we are excited to bring console players into the Realm,” Harris explains. “Now console players will be able to experience the deep customizability of Paladins, the only shooter that lets players play exactly how they want to play.”

As a quick overview, Paladins is a multiplayer shooting video game that consists of 24 playable Champions; each of which can be altered with different offensive and defensive capabilities. Players are then free to battle across a plethora of unique game modes, all free of charge.

Not only did Hi-Rez Studios make this much-awaited announcement, they also revealed a Paladins tournament. The best players around the world can win a free trip to Spain to try and secure a $50,000 prize. However, only the elite will be entered in. The top PlayStation 4 players will be pitted against the top Xbox One players, which is dubbed the Console Wars.

In order to secure a spot in this tournament, players must qualify through open brackets. These open brackets will be held from May 20, 2017 until June 25, 2017. After this has been completed, the best teams on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (from both North America and Europe) will be determined and will take a trip to Spain to declare the ultimate Aesir of Paladins.
