The latest issue of a Japanese Video game magazine, Weekly Famitsu, revealed new details on a few the characters and gameplay features that will be seen in Fire Emblem Warriors, the upcoming hack and slash title featuring popular characters from the Fire Emblem franchise. Also revealed were screenshots on a few newly announced characters. Gaming news site Gematsu, translated many of the details found in Famitsu’s preview.

Fire Emblem Warriors will introduce dual protagonists, Shion and Lian. They are a brother and sister pair, created exclusively for this new title. Two more original characters, Darios and Yuana, were mentioned but their roles in the story have yet to be revealed. Marth from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon will appear in Fire Emblem Warriors as a playable character alongside Chrom who was shown in the game’s first trailer. Most of the game’s characters will be chosen from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates. Characters from across different titles will have special bonding conversations. The game will not feature any form of marriage or love system found in previous Fire Emblem titles. Other staple mechanics will be made present in Fire Emblem Warriors such as the weapon triangle and class systems. Players will be able to switch characters during battle, making strategy an option when deciding how to attack certain enemies. No exact number of characters has been revealed yet but Koei Tecmo has stated that it is higher than the first entry of any other collaboration project they’ve worked on.

An original story has been created for Fire Emblem Warriors with the game’s script being fully voiced. Koei Tecmo hasn’t shared any real details on the upcoming game’s story or setting yet but revealed that it will involve a “Shield of Fire’ appearing in the world from beyond time and space. Intelligent Systems is supervising the project and looking over things such as character settings.

Koei Tecmo revealed that Fire Emblem Warrior’s development is currently 70 percent complete. The game is currently planned to launch in fall 2017 and will be available on Switch and the New 3DS.
