Logitech to Aquire ASTRO for $85 Million

Logitech will be acquiring the console headset brand, ASTRO Gaming.

Logitech announced today that the multi-brand company will purchase ASTRO for $85 million in cash. The acquisition is set to close sometime in August this year, with an expected impact on financial results taking place sometime in 2018. The reason behind the purchase is so that Logitech can invest in adjacent gaming markets, extending their reach and expanding ASTRO internationally along with Logitech’s own Logitech G brand at a fast pace.

Logitech G is a brand of Logitech International, focusing solely on PC gaming gear. In addition to a variety of gaming keyboards and mice, Logitech G creates simulation products such as wheels and flight sticks with innovative designs.

“ASTRO is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console esports athletes,” It’s a perfect complement to Logitech G’s focus on PC gaming and we couldn’t be more excited; we love the team, the brand and the products. Together, we want to make game play even more fun for gamers everywhere.” Said Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech G.

ASTRO is considered to be a pioneer in the world of gaming audio products, selling premium priced products in the global console gaming market. ASTRO is best known for their A40 and A50 gaming headsets, designed mainly for pro gamers.

“The whole team at ASTRO has always held Logitech and Logitech G products in the highest regard, so I’m ecstatic we are joining forces. ASTRO’s brand strength combined with Logitech G’s unrivaled technology and global distribution network is going to bring our products to even more gamers around the world.” commented Jordan Reiss co-founder and president of ASTRO.

Together with ASTRO, Logitech remains one of the biggest global computer and gaming hardware manufacturers in the industry.
