Arc System Works Announces New Crossover Title

A new dream match crossover title is in development by Arc System Works.

At the end of a BlazBlue tournament at EVO 2017, fighting game developer Arc System Works announced their upcoming collaboration game. Titled BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, the game features characters from Arc System Work’s earlier games BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena.  The game will also feature characters from the late PlayStation 3 title Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late, a fighting game published by Arc System Works. It was also confirmed that the protagonist of the popular web series, RWBY, will guest star in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.

Since its original release, BlazBlue has become one of the larger series within the fighting game community. There have been four main entries in the series, telling the story of its protagonist, Ragna the Bloodedge. The series last title, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, released late last year for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will be the developer’s first crossover title using the series.

Under Night In-Birth is a 2012 fighting game developed by Ecole Software and French Bread. French Bread is a Japanese developer best known for their work on the previously Japanese exclusive fighting game, Melty Blood. The latest version of the game is Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], planned to release this year on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and for the first time, PlayStation 4.

Rwby was created in 2013 by the late Monty Oum. Developed by Rooster Teeth, the series became a viral hit when it launched on YouTube. The series is currently four seasons long with 52 episodes aired. Rwby’s main character, Ruby Rose, is voiced by Rooster Teeth’s own Lindsay Jones. Jones will be returning for the role in the upcoming crossover title.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will launch for consoles sometime in 2018. More details will be revealed at a later date.
