It was a packed house at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre last weekend for FanExpo 2017. The halls were packed with fans of comics, games, sci-fi, horror, and anime from all walks of life anxiously waiting to meet stars, icons, and giants of the industry. With special guests such as Tim Curry, Matt Smith, Jason Mews, Felicia Day, Kalman Andrasofski, Phil Jiminez, Jim Lee, and Scott Snyder, the amount of performance and artistic talent under one room was truly a sight to behold.
Included in this exemplary lineup of incredible talent was RAID Studios illustrator, Nimit Malavia. Know for his work with DC, Marvel, and Dark Horse comics, Malavia spent the weekend creating beautifully crafted drawings of the community that hummed throughout FanExpo. You can watch how he brought each drawing to life in the time lapsed video below:
For those of you who are interested in the tools of the trade, Nimit Malavia uses iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and Procreate, an illustration app, available in the Apple App Store.
“Fan Expo always serves as a really great opportunity to connect with fans, catch up with peers from the industry and see all the amazing cosplay!” Malavia told CGMagazine. “Since moving more of my work flow over to iPad Pro, using it with Apple Pencil and Procreate made it really easy to sketch some of the wonderful cosplayers I got to chat with at the con.”
