Michael Fassbender Slated To Star In Kung Fury Feature Film 1

Michael Fassbender set to Star in upcoming Kung Fury feature film.

The Alien Covenant Star will be joining the silver screen sequel and adaptation of 2015’s Kung Fury, a 30-minute short which successfully launched through Kickstarter and quickly found a cult following from 80’s Action movie and Comedy fans.

Like the original short, the feature film will be directed by David Sandberg, under his Laser Unicorns’ label. Fassbender will be joining big named actors such as David Hasselhoff, following his role in the original independent short.

Set in 1985 Miami, the feature film, like the original short, will pay homage to 1980’s Martial arts and Buddy-cop Action movies.

The story will centre around the police officer, Kung Fury who is in the midst of dealing with a tragic loss, causing his group of elite policers known as the Thundercops to disband while in the shadows, a mysterious villain lays out plans to help the Fuhrer obtain a powerful weapon.

The film will be produced by David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Aaron Schmidt, through their KatzSmith Productions banner, responsible for movies such as It (2017). The movie will also see Phillip Westgren of B-reel Films and Connor McCaughan. Pelle Strandberg is the executive producer, on behalf of Laser Unicorns.

Michael Fassbender is a two-time Academy Award nominee for his roles in Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs and Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave. David Hasselhoff is most recognised in his iconic portrayal of Mitch Buchannon NBC’s Baywatch, and as Michael Knight in Knight Rider (1982).
