Ubisoft has confirmed today the indefinite suspension of former Assassin’s Creed designer Patrice Desilets’ 1666.

According to Polygon, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot addressed the issue during an investor call for the company’s fiscal year-end results.

“After two months of discussions with [Desilets], we couldn’t align our vision on both project development and team management,” Guillemot said. “Consequently our collaboration has ended, and we have suspended 1666 for an undisclosed period of time.”

This is not the first time Desilets departed with Ubisoft. In 2010, Desilets left Ubisoft Montreal, joining THQ Montreal the year later. During his tenure at THQ Montreal, Desilets was creative director on 1666, which was at the time, the working title for an unannounced project. As Ubisoft acquired THQ’s studio and intellectual property in an auction in January, Desilets retuned to Ubisoft in March.

It was a week ago, when Desilets, for the second time, parted ways with Ubisoft. The developer and publisher described the release as amicable and in good faith. Desilets, on the contrary, explained to Polygon he was unceremoniously removed from the company, describing Ubisoft’s actions as “baseless and without merit”.
