DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are set to launch a new initiative catered to enticing more girls to the DC Comics Universe with “DC Super Hero Girls” this fall.

When “DC Super Hero Girls” debuts, it will include an “immersive digital experience” alongside original digital content and digital publications geared towards girls from 6-12 year’s old. In other words, they’re going digital for the latter half of 2015. Going into 2016, they hope to expand their global reach with TV Specials, made-for-videos, toys, apparel, books and more throughout the year.

The initiative will showcase female superheroes and supervillians prior to discovering their full potential to give young girls strong role models to look up to.

There will be many more characters added to the line up, but so far the starting lineup will focus on Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy and Katana to start out. But they won’t be the age you are used to seeing. These characters will be teenagers trying to become the characters people are fond of today.

DC Entertainment President, Diane Nelson says the company is hoping to see this new take on these super heroes make an impact for girls everywhere.

“‘DC Super Hero Girls’ represents the embodiment of our long-term strategy to harness the power of our diverse female characters. I am so pleased that we are able to offer relatable and strong role models in a unique way, just for girls.”

That isn’t even the half of it. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are teaming up with Mattel, Random House Children’s Books and Lego.

Mattel will create a toy line that’s set to launch in 2016, will feature these female characters in action figures and fashion dolls with the goal of representing “Strong, athletic bodies, that stand on their own in heroic poses,” said the company in an announcement.

Random House Children’s Books will be the publishing partner for the franchise and also start their own line of books that will debut in 2016.

Lastly, Lego will produce building sets based on the locations the characters embark on throughout the “DC Super Hero Girls” world.
