Shahid Ahmad Is Leaving Sony

Shahid Ahmad Is Leaving Sony 1

It is a sad day for the indie scene on the PlayStation platform. Today Shahid Ahmad, the man who was leading the charge for indie games on the PS3, PS4, and the Vita announced that he is leaving Sony.

In the blog post, Ahmad notes that “There are no plans to change anything. Our approach to developers will also be unchanged. We have many talented people across the board who work tirelessly to support developers in bringing their videogames to PlayStation. Leaving this company has been the hardest decision of my career, because I get to work with the most dedicated, friendly and inspiring people in the business.”

He goes on to say that, “I want to make games again. I stopped being a developer around a quarter of a century ago and have seen so many changes since then, with most of the exciting ones happening in the last few years. I want to be part of that.”

With the indie space more vibrant than ever, one can not blame Ahmad for wanting to be a part of it. We can only hope the strong indie support from Sony continues, as the indie titles on the PS4 and Vita are some of the most exciting games this console generation.

Ahmad notes in a tweet that he will be leaving Sony on the 4

th

of December.
