Fan Expo 2014 Highlights

Fan Expo 2014 Highlights 4

Summer is almost at an end, which means Fan Expo time!  CGM took some time to wander the show floor of Fan Expo 2014.

From the show floor.

There is no shortage of things to see while on the floor of Fan Expo, all you have to do is fight through the sea of people.

Ubisoft as always was showing off their upcoming titles and selling their wares. We stopped by Ubiwork to see what is in store for the upcoming holiday season. There is lots of apparel, including a new line of Farcry themed clothing.

In true Ubisoft fashion, they had an amazing display promoting the upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and well no Ubisoft showing is complete without a Rabbid or two.

Con goers into gaming could also check out both the PlayStation booth, where LittleBIGPlanet 3, Destiny and The Order 1886 were available to check out, and the Warner Brothers booth where they would have a chance to play LEGO Batman 3, Dying Light or Mortal Kombat X(only those over 17 had the chance to get their fatality on). Out front the Warner Brothers was a life sized Batmobile from Arkham Knight.

As there are every year, many celebrities flocked to Fan Expo to meet their fans. This year Dr. Who fans (or Whoovians as they liked to be called) were delighted to meet Matt Smith the 11th Doctor, a fan favourite. Those who enjoy blood and guts had a chance to meet Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, Freddy’s favourite victim, Heather Langenkamp and boomstick totting Bruce Campbell. Gamers were in for a real treat, not only did they have a chance to meet Steve Blum and Michael Rooker of Call of Duty but to watch some of the world’s best pro gamers face off in Starcraft II.  Everyday was packed for Intel Extreme Masters tournament. We had a chance to talk to George Woo of Intel Extreme Masters to learn more about their return to Canada. You can watch the video here.

There was no shortage of photo opportunities, from full sized guillotine to President Snow’s chair from The Hunger Games.   I decided Adventure Time’s Finn and Jake were my kind of people.

And well, no con of any kind is complete without some cosplayers.
