Activision Claims It Is Not Just A Sequel Factory

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said in an interview with Edge that the company is “taking some of the biggest risks in new genres and new business models and new IPs than anybody.”

The company has been the subject of complaints by many for both their Skylander and Call of Duty franchises. These series are notorious for their yearly releases, which are known to be very similar to previous iterations.

On Metacritic, many of the Call of Duty releases have low user scores, with people complaining about how similar each one is.

While Call of Duty is developed by Treyarch and Insomniac, Activision publishes these titles for the public. The newest Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Ghosts, is set to release on November 5 in North America.
