Capcom to lose half of European workforce

An MCV report says Capcom is expecting to cut its European workforce by more than fifty percent.

A contributing factor to the layoffs are the failed sales expectations for Resident Evil 6 and DmC: Devil May Cry, along with the recently-released Lost Planet 3, which didn’t crack the UK top 20 in its first week of sale.

“Following a restructure at its US operation, Capcom’s European organization is currently evaluating its structure to ensure it is in the best position to take advantage of the changing market conditions the industry is facing,” Capcom told MCV.

Looking forward, Capcom has Dead Rising 3 for the Xbox One to look forward too, alongside the 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter 4, which sold 1.7 million copies during its first weekend on sale in Japan. It’s yet to launch across North America and Europe.
