Major Changes at Harmonix

There are some big changes going on at Harmonix today. The developer that just got its Kickstarter for Amplitude funded has laid off 37 full time workers and is rearranging it’s management.

“Harmonix is in the process of restructuring our organization to bring it into alignment with our current and future product development plans,” says a Harmonix spokesperson. “Unfortunately, this means making the difficult decision to reduce the number of full-time staff. We sincerely appreciate the work of each and every one of these employees.”

They also noted that Harmonix will ensure those affected by these layoffs will be taken care of.  As for management, CEO Alex Rigopuloswill take on the role of Chief Creative Officer. His replacement is Steve Janiak, former head of publishing and business operations.

When it comes to games, Harmonix says these layoffs were not the result of the announcement of a Kinectless Xbox One. This won’t affect the development of Disney: Fantasia Music Evolved, Amplitude, or their support of Record Run, and they have a number of titles that are still in development.
