New Rock Band DLC on the way

It’s been a while. But the time has come to open up your rec room closet, shuffle through relics of the past, grab your old plastic guitar and dust it off because there is new Rockband DLC on the way.

After taking an almost two year hiatus (21 months to be exact), developer Harmonix announced three new tracks available for the 2010 title Rock Band 3 and the 2012 game Rock Band Blitz drop tomorrow (January 13 2015) in North America. Gamers in Europe will have to wait until January 23 2015 for their fix. The tunes available are Shepard of Fire by Avenged Sevenfold, R U Mine? by Artic Monkeys, and Something from Nothing by Foo Fighters. Each song goes for $2 on the Rock Band Music store. These tracks will add to the games already huge library consisting of 3, 500 songs.

Before this wave, the last tune released as DLC was American Pie by Don McLean on April 2 2013, which fittingly was the day they announced they would no longer support the game. But now, for the time being, it looks like there will be something for videogame rockers.  The timing might be a little confusing, but it’s pretty cool to see this game get some support after such a long hiatus.

We’ve reached out to Harmonix to see what changed their minds, but they haven’t responded yet. In the meantime, we will keep you posted.
