Resident Evil: Mercenaries includes playable demo of Resident Evil: Revelations

Capcom’s latest trailer brings a new Skill Slot upgrade system to the first Resident Evil title for the 3DS.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is still a relentless, over-the-top action game that’s only tangentially related to survival horror, but it’s at least looking like a full retail title. Capcom has blown out the mini-game with a slew of customization features, and the new trailer gives us glimpses of an intricate “Skill Slot” upgrade system that allows players to equip up to three (of thirty) unlockable abilities. The various skills can enhance anything from your health to your reload speed, so you should be able to build a mercenary to suit your play style.

In other news, Capcom has announced that Resident Evil: The Mercenaries will also include a playable demo of the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations. The other 3DS game is looking a bit scarier than Mercenaries, and the demo might generate a few sales from fans looking for a more conventional Resident Evil title.

The new screenshots and trailer are below. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is scheduled for release later in the spring.
