Rumor: Wii’s successor to be unveiled at E3

Anonymous declares war on itself 8

“Nintendo is doing this one right”, says an anonymous source.

Rumors about the successor to the Wii have been bouncing around the Internet for a while, but Game Informer has taken the speculation one step further. Citing an anonymous source, they’re reporting that a Wii successor is in the works and will be unveiled at this year’s E3.

According to Game Informer, the new console will have HD graphics that will either be on par with or surpass the current generation of consoles. If true, it means that the new console would rival the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and would make it easier for developers to include Nintendo while making multi-platform games.

“Nintendo is doing this one right,” says the anonymous source. “[It’s] not a gimmick like the Wii.”

The report comes after earlier rumors about a $50 Wii price drop, and – coupled the Wii’s declining sales and a lack of major titles – things seem to be aligning for a major Nintendo announcement. It’s still only rumor, but it could make for a very interesting E3 come June.
