The Assassin’s Creed franchise used to mean a lot to me as a kid since the first game released back in 2007. Each time a new entry came out I would spend countless hours losing myself in the new setting and characters during the long Winter break.
Gamescom 2017 is underway and Microsoft is kicking things off with their live show.
During the Xbox part of the presentation, Ubisoft took the opportunity to show off a new trailer for their latest instalment of Assassin’s Creed, which can be viewed below.
The trailer is a CGI cinematic trailer, which beautifully depicts the Ancient Egyptian setting that players will be able to explore in Assassins’s Creed Origins.
Assassins’s Creed Origins is scheduled to come out later this year on October 27, 2017. The upcoming title will be available on PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One and the upcoming Xbox One X.
Ubisoft has announced that they are teaming up with Microsoft to utilize the power of the forthcoming Xbox One X to fully realize Assassins’s Creed Origins.
Assassin’s Creed Origin‘s will boast 4k visuals, HDR support, and other bells and whistles that utilize the upcoming console.
For those unfamiliar with the the upcoming title, the game takes place in Ancient Egypt during the Ptolemaic period. The player assumes the role of Bayek, a Medjay, as he works to protect the people from the looming dangers of the Templars.
As the name suggests, the narrative in the upcoming title tells the origins of the Brotherhood of Assassins, in addition to the dark cabal that eventually came to be known as the Templars.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is the latest entry in the renowned and long-running franchise.
The title first began development shortly after the development of Assassins’s Creed Black flag finished in 2014.
The existence of Assassin’s Creed Origins leaked earlier this year when several screenshots for the game surfaced on to the internet. The game was formally announced at E3 2017 during Microsoft’s Xbox press briefing presentation in Los Angeles.
The universe of Assassin’s Creed Origins will be expanding beyond what will be seen in the game.

A new trailer introducing the latest game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise made its debut during Microsoft’s E3 conference along with a short gameplay preview, highlighting some of the title’s unique features. A new upgrade system will be introduced In Assassin’s Creed Origins along with enhancements made to the combat system Assassin’s Creed is best known for. Another feature shown was the ability to control an eagle, allowing players to get a better view of the area and target enemies.
Taking place in ancient Egypt, Assassin’s Creed Origins will introduce new protagonist, Bayek, a man returning to his home town, Siwa, in order to kill a fake oracle named Medunamun. Assassin’s Creed Origins is planned to be the largest title in the series history, giving players everything from pyramids to scale to dense cities to maneuver.
Earlier this year, Rumors spread around the new Assassin’s Creed title, confirming the game’s name and setting. The rumors suggested that Origins would have two lead characters, a fact that wasn’t revealed to be true during the game’s official announcement. The rumors also claimed that players would be able to visit other locations outside of Egypt such as Greece with the game’s map size being compared to Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Other features such as controllable boats and naval combat were also announced but this is also unconfirmed to be true or not.
After the release of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Ubisoft skipped went a year without releasing a new title, breaking the franchise’s annual release history. Ubisoft did confirm that a new Assassin’s Creed title would be released during the current fiscal year, running through until March of 2018.
The newest Assassin’s Creed game will be available on October 27, 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
