Episode One of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is now online

The Mortal Kombat universe expands with the release of the first episode of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy is directed by Kevin Tancharoen and the first episode of the mini-series maintains the gritty style that turned heads in last year’s Mortal Kombat: Rebirth. The series is set prior to the actual Mortal Kombat tournament and will help explain why certain characters end up joining the competition.

Episode one (embedded below) introduces Jax and Sonya, played by returning stars Michael Jai White and Jerri Ryan, and also introduces Darren Shahlavi as Kano and Tamoh Pennikett as Striker. The video was clearly shot on a budget, but it’s still fairly entertaining and it does a good job of establishing the characters. It’s probably the closest thing you’ll get to a third Mortal Kombat movie, and that should at least be enough to interest you in episode 2.
