The Gears of War 3 beta introduces the buddy system for the final week of play.
Killing hordes of Locusts is always more fun with friends, so Epic Games is giving the lonely Gears of War 3 beta players the chance to invite their friends to join the festivities. The studio has announced that they’ll be handing out ‘buddy tokens’ that can be redeemed for beta codes, and if you’ve played at least one session during the beta you’ve already earned one token. Players can also earn up to four more tokens (for a total of five) by completing a variety of tasks. Specifically, you can:
– Purchase any “Gears of War” content from Xbox LIVE Marketplace (including a “Gears of War” Game Add-on, a “Gears of War” Games on Demand title, or a “Gears of War” Avatar item)
– Play 20 or more hours of the “Gears of War 3” beta (any time already spent in the beta will count toward this challenge)
– Add a 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription to your existing account (purchased from retail or online)
– Play more than 100 hours of any “Gears of War” title, lifetime to date
The beta codes will be sent out via email on May 8th, which gives the new participants a week to play before the beta ends on May 15th. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, you might want to politely remind your friends about the importance of sharing.
