The first Red Faction: Origins trailer is better than expected

Red Faction is headed to the small screen in the upcoming TV movie adaptation.

The battle for Mars continues in the first trailer (embedded below) for Red Faction: Origins, the made-for-TV SyFy movie based on the Red Faction franchise. Set 25 years after Red Faction: Guerrilla, Origins will follow Jake Mason (Brian J. Smith) and bridge the gap between Red Faction: Guerrilla and Red Faction: Armageddon.

Of course, expectations for Origins weren’t particularly high considering that it’s a video game movie being produced by SyFy (the same people behind Sharktopus), but the trailer doesn’t actually look that bad. At the very least, Origins seems like it will be true to its source material.

Red Faction: Origins will air on the SyFy Channel in the U.S. on June 4th, just a few days before Red Faction: Armageddon debuts on June 7th.
