The secret of the courier will finally be revealed.
Bethesda has been having all kinds of problems with Fallout: New Vegas – the publisher briefly had to tell fans not to download the latest update after they learned that the patch actually made the bugs and glitches worse – but they’re still moving forward with ambitious plans for a summer of DLC. The studio has announced that Obsidian Entertainment is working on three new expansions, and all three are scheduled for release within the next three months.
Up first is Honest Hearts, which debuts on May 17
and sends players to Utah’s Zion National Park. Things go awry when a band of tribal raiders ambushes your party, and you’ll have to negotiate a conflict between various murderous tribes, a New Canaanite Missionary, and someone called the Burned Man.
In Old World Blues, meanwhile, players will learn where monsters come from as lab rats in a science experiment gone awry. You’ll have to explore the Big Empty to find tools that will allow you to rise up against your tormentors, and there’s also another ambiguous threat lurking somewhere in the wasteland. Old World Blues go on sale in June.
Finally, there’s Lonesome Road, which ties off a loose plot thread left over from New Vegas. A courier named Ulysses will tell you why he refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the start of the original game, but you’ll have to make one last trek through the Divide in order to get on his good side. Lonesome Road will be available sometime in July.
Unlike last winter’s Dead Money, all three expansions will be released simultaneously for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and will cost either 800 Microsoft Points (Xbox) or $9.99 (everywhere else). It’s great news if you’re looking for more New Vegas, although it would be nice if Bethesda could get the game working before they start charging for extra content.
