Joe Madureira, the co-founder of Vigil Games, announced his resignation from the company today.

The company, which Madureira founded seven years ago, produced some of the biggest games on the market today including the death obsessed action adventure series, Darksiders.

Madureira announced the news on his Facebook page today, stating it was time for him to move on to new adventures and challenges, also stating he had already begun working on the, “next big thing.”

His statment carried some assurance for fans of both the studio and the games it releases, and said the company was in good hands. He acknowledged the fun he had working for the studio. Madureira said he had nothing but good feelings upon his departure.

Madureira said he wished nothing but good luck to his, “brothers and sisters at Vigil games.”

As well as being known as the creative director and co-founder at Vigil, Medureira was also known for his work on popular Marvel comic book series like the Uncanny X-Men, Deadpool, and the Avenging Spiderman.

Madureira first got his foot in the door by interning with Marvel at the age of sixteen before eventually publishing his first 8 page piece in one of the X-Men comics.

Below is the official Facebook statement Madureira left fans:

“Farewell and best wishes to all my brothers and sisters at Vigil Games! After 7 long years and 2 hit games ( Darksiders BABY! ) I’m afraid the time has come for me to move on to new adventures. I could not be more proud of what we achieved, or the awesome people who helped build up this studio. I can safely say Vigil’s future is in very good hands, so expect only awesomeness down the road. This feels surreal…I miss the place already.”
