Gas Powered Games purchased by Wargaming

Gas Powered Games, the developer started the Dungeon Siege series, has been acquired by publisher and developer Wargaming.

“Gas Powered Games has a long track record of providing incredibly engaging AAA gaming experiences and we can’t wait to start working with them,” said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming in a press release.

Wargaming released their MMO World of Tanks in April of 2011, and currently have another MMO, World of Warplanes, in closed beta.

“Wargaming growth in recent years has been tremendous, and we’re looking forward to joining one of the fastest growing gaming companies in the world,” said Chris Taylor, CEO of Gas Powered Games. “I’m sure our experience and expertise will help us contribute even more to Wargaming’s global success.”

Gas Powered Games recently cancelled their Kickstarter for Wildman, four days and a little over half a million dollars shy of their goal.

CGM recently spoke to Chris Taylor, with him saying that if Wildman didn’t get the funding required they may look to making it into a smaller web-based game. Taylor also said that everybody involved with Gas Powered Games knew that the Kickstarter was them going all in and they were “betting the company” on the project.

Details on the purchase weren’t made available. It remains to be seen if this acquisition means anything for Wildman, but it definitely keeps Gas Powered Games alive.
