Users may want to hold off on the temptation to download the recently leaked Gears of War: Judgment, as (aside from it being illegal) Microsoft has vowed “vigorous action” against those who have downloaded the game.
The next Gears instalment is set for a Mar.19 release, still just over a month away. Only hours after the leak and Microsoft’s vow of vengeance, the company posted a trailer showing off Judgements new multiplayer. Since the leak, gameplay and screen shots from the game has been popping up online.
To top it off, this isn’t Microsoft’s first run-in with games slipping through the cracks, after last year’s Halo 4 leak that left the company threatening life-time console bans. Users who choose to download the leaked Judgment game, will also suffer the same fate.
“Playing pirated copies of games, such as Gears of War: Judgment, is a violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Use and will result in enforcement action, such as account and console bans.” Microsoft told Eurogamer. “We are aware of isolated cases in which Gears of War: Judgement [sic] content has been propped on the web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation immediately.”
“Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and we take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services.”
An unfinished playable version of Gears of War 3 was also leaked back in 2011, that gave major plot spoilers prior to the games release. Microsoft’s problem with keeping it’s games under wraps seems rampant. Maybe it’s time for the company to re-evaluate its staff?
