Developer High Moon Studios hit by layoffs

Developer High Moon Studios hit by layoffs - 2013-04-04 13:22:21

High Moon Studios, the developer known for the two recent Transformers games (War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron) as well as the upcoming Deadpool game, has had 40 employees laid off by Activision.

With development on Deadpool having just been completed, Activision deemed it necessary to gut another studio, releasing the following statement:

“Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process. With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services.”

The layoffs follow a continuing trend in the industry so far in 2013, with Activision itself laying off employees at another developer, Treyarch, just recently.

High Moon Studios also worked on Darkwatch (2005) and Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy (2008). Deadpool is currently slated for release in the summer 2013 window on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
