Dark Souls director says PC port was “half-assed,” promises sequel will be better 1

According to a Shacknews story, Yui Tanimura, director of hardcore favourite Dark Souls, admitted that the PC port of the notoriously difficult role-playing game, the “Ready to Die Edition,” wasn’t very polished.

As a result user-created mods that would enable higher resolutions and make the game play at 60 fps were created to help bring the game up to PC gaming standards.

“A lot of it was not very well done, sort of half-assed,” Tanimura told Shacknews.

The From Software director promises that he and his team will do a much better job with the PC edition of the upcoming Dark Souls II as it’s been announced that its release will coincide with the console editions’ release although no firm date has been spoken of yet.

“Yes, we will definitely put more priority on the PC. Last time, we started working on PC after the console version was complete,” Tanimura said. “This time, because we are considering the PC from the beginning, you can be sure there will be more care put into PC development.”

Dark Souls II is being published by Namco Bandai Games and will be available for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
