The rumours have been quelled. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has took a stance on the next installment in the famed racing simulator franchise, Gran Turismo 6.
“I’d like to announce today that we are developing GT 6 [sic] for the holiday season this year on the PlayStation 3,” Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi tweeted today.
An event commemorating the 15
anniversary of the Gran Turismo franchise is in place today at the Silverstone Circuit in England. The event is said to feature notable car manufacturers—such as Ford, BMW, and Honda—as they will display vehicles old and new.
Speaking of car manufacturers, Toyota Europe’s communications team tweeted 1200 vehicles will be included at the time of Gran Turismo 6’s release: “200 more than in GT5. There will be many custom parts.”

anniversary event—is updating its followers on Twitter on what’s going on at the event.
Update: Sony also has confirmed a Gran Turismo 6 demo for July.
