Microsoft has announced 19-year company veteran Julie-Larson Green as the new head of the Xbox division.
Larson-Green was previously in charge of Windows products. In an internal memo released to Microsoft employees this morning, Microsoft’s Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer said Larson-Green’s duties would also include “music, video and other entertainment”. The memo also revealed Microsoft is undergoing a company restructuring, in which the Xbox division would be part of a new section known as the “Devices and Studios Engineering Group”.
Former Xbox head Don Mattrick left Microsoft last week to become Zynga’s new CEO. Mattrick spent six years at Microsoft; his highlights not only include overseeing the Xbox division, but also presenting the Xbox One and announcing Microsoft’s reversal of Xbox One’s policies.
