Despite record pre-order sales for the Xbox One, Phil Spencer, the vice-president of Microsoft Game Studios, said that customers won’t have to relive the struggles that accompanied the Xbox 360’s launch in 2005.
“You want people to walk into the store and buy one day one,” he told Game Informer. He said that availability should be much better than it was for the 360, and other accessories like controllers and games will be a lot easier to obtain as well.
During the 360’s launch in 2005, Microsoft was unable to meet the initial consumer demand in both Europe and North America, and as a result over 40 000 consoles were offered for sale on eBay during its first week of release.
The Xbox One is set to release on Nov. 22 in North America and the UK.
