Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Coming to Nintendo 3DS In Spring 2014 1

Players who enjoyed Square Enix’s musical RPG Theatrhythm Final Fantasy can expect a reprise when Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call launches in Japan on Nintendo 3DS next spring.

Gematsu procured scans of the game from this week’s issue of the Japanese publication, Jump. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will offer over 200 songs, including those from Final Fantasy XIV and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Players can choose from over 60 characters, and engage in a multiplayer “Versus Battle Mode”. Square Enix secured the trademark for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call early this month.

A Final Fantasy spinoff, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy gives the Final Fantasy franchise a lighter twist. Notable characters, such as Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife and Final Fantasy XII’s Balthier, are redesigned as adorable sprites. And instead of conquering villains in a melodramatic fashion, beloved Final Fantasy protagonists must now move to the beat in order to reign supreme. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy was released in Japan last February, and in North America and Europe five months later.
