Upgrade from PlayStation 3 game to next-gen counterpart detailed

Following the PlayStation 3-to-PlayStation 4 upgrade offer which was announced last month, Sony released specific details regarding the deal earlier today.

Gamers for a limited time can download a handful of their disc-based or digital PS3 games on to their PS4 from the PlayStation Store – once its up and running – for $10.

The titles included in the special offer are Watch Dogs, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. No other games have been announced.

Users will find a code packed into the disc-based versions of their games, and can be redeemed on the PlayStation Store. In order to play the PS4 version during launch, users will have to insert the PS3 disc into the PS4 drive, which will activate and play the next-generation version. Anyone who has purchased the digital version of a game won’t be asked to redeem a code, but will instead find their game appearing automatically on the PlayStation Store at the discounted price of 10$.

Full step-by-step instructions and more info about the offer can be viewed on PlayStation’s special support page. The PS4 launches in North America on Nov. 15, and on Nov. 29 in Europe.
