Ever since its release on Sept. 17, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V is on the highway to becoming quite possibly the fastest selling game in history.
Last week, Take-Two Interactive announced the critically acclaimed open-world game garnered a whopping $1 billion in just three days. And it seems the hysteria of Grand Theft Auto V has now reached the UK. According to Chart-Track, Grand Theft Auto V has become the 24
biggest selling title in the UK, outselling more titles at launch than previous Grand Theft Auto titles, and outshining previous title-holder Call of Duty: Black Ops by a quarter of a million units.
If that’s not enough, Grand Theft Auto V is the 11
biggest title on the Xbox 360 and 10
on the PlayStation 3 within five days of release. Xbox 360 sales for the game accounted for 57 percent, while PlayStation 3 sales accounted for 43 percent.
Despite Grand Theft Auto V dominating 89 percent of sales for the week, other games performed successfully. Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 ranked second in the UK charts, while Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us ranked in third.
